Love Me...(My effort at free verse)

Touch me....won't you touch me?
I need to feel desired-
I need to feel as if I am necessary.
An intricate part of someone's life.
I need to feel as if I am important to someone.
I have acted hard, indifferent, emotionless
But I need love, I need to be special!
If only for a night, for an hour, a minute?
Could you be part of my life for this once?
Just reach out to me, no man is an island-
As hard as I have striven to be so.
Take no thought of tomorrow, love me tonight.
Love me for what I might have been-
For what I never was, if not for what I am.
Love me because i am lonely, because-
Inside...I am a frightened, lonely little boy.
That is really all that a man is-
Is a little boy in a hard, tough crysallis.
My needs are not those of a child-
But those of a frightened, insecure male animal
With it's foot caught inextricably in the trap of life.
Frightened, uncertain...what is my next move?
Tomorrow I will armor myself again with cynicism-
and face an uncaring world..but tonight? Love me.
Please?
