California

“How was California?”
my friends all ask.
I smile as I reply,
“wonderful!”
“What did you see?”
A thousand pictures
pass before my eyes:
each line on your body;
the smile on your face;
the way you looked as you slept,
safe and content in my arms;
loosing ourselves in each other;
ordering room service so we
didn’t have to leave the hotel;
and watching the orange sun
set on the ocean.
“Well?”
I simply grin and reply,
“Everything.”

If I didn't know how much you deserved happiness, I'd be downright envious of this much joy... *S* Congrats, Hoot!

That doesn't sound like the California where I live. When you're with the one you love, every sunrise and sunset is beautiful. I'm so happy for you!

here's MY version

Morning

He whispers against her sleeping skin
"I love you"
Tangling his legs in hers
Feeling their smoothness
Listening to her gentle breaths
Fingers light on her face
Raising his eyes to hers
As she wakes
He watches
Confusion turn to joy
As she realizes
Whose arms she's in now
