Wonders of the World

I never saw the Taj Mahal
I never walked the streets of Rome
I've never been to Budapest
Or wandered very far from home

I've never seen Mt. Kilimanjaro
Or looked into Tibetan sky
Or sailed into the Hong Kong harbor
Or spoke the language of the Thai

I haven't yet sailed 'round the horn
Nor did I drink of Chile's wine
I never saw New Zealand's shore
But wonders of the world are mine

For I have watched a sparrow hatch
I've gazed the planets of the night
I've seen a graceful day lily
Spread her arms to morning light

I've listened to the mourning dove
I've walked among the hollyhocks
I've sat for timeless hours and watched
Water gush through granite rocks

I walked along the Ashley River
And saw the moon dance on her crest
I stood alone on Isle of Palms
And watched the sun set in the west

I've stopped to smell the summer rain
I've known a lover's passion kiss
I've sat beside the winter hearth
To write poetry on days like this

Not much to say to that except, a real pleasure to enjoy.

Sigh--This kind of travel is my kind of travel--so beautiful Liz.

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.

Elizabeth, my friend -
This poem is so pretty.
I can just see the smile on
your face as your heart took flight.
Beautifully done.
Bless you.
