Bandit

Bandit was his name
friendliness was his game.
He lived a long 15 years
now my eyes are filled with tears.
Our son was only five
when this sweet kitty did arrive
now at almost twenty
saying good-bye hurt plenty.
He watched as they gave the shot
that made Bandit's heart stop.
He brought him home with him
to bury him in a special place
away from life's busy pace.
His tribute to a friend
that's always been there
right to his very end.

So very sad.....a pet is such a blessing and is a very real part of the family....
A heartfelt tribute LD....Thank you for sharing

I've seen and see the friendship between our cats and my children. It hurts a lot to say goodbye to a dear friend and so does the hurt children feel for this loss.
Lovely tribute.

Lost Dreamer: I understand where you're coming from. My daughters (four & five years old) had to say goodby to their first pet... Scooter the hamster about a month ago. I cried just as much as they did... tore my heart out to see them learn such a harsh lesson at so early an age.

Excellent, Dreamer. Pets teach children so much about life....Robert Fulghum once wrote a story about how much pets (in his story, a hamster) teach children about life...from the birth through adolescence onto adulthood and, ultimately, to the end. It's a valuable learning experience but never an easy one at the end.

It's heartbreaking for sure. Very nice tribute to Bandit.
