Goodbye The thought of parting with you is ice in my veins, Freezing my heart and soul, filling me with sorrow. Every time I see you I wonder: Why there has to come a time when Our paths of life will separate, Taking us further and further apart. There is no time or place for you and me, So I face an eternity without your smile.... Without your love....without you. Life will go on, it always does, Waiting not for me to grieve the rift between us. You will become but a distant memory to me, The brightness you brought into my life will slowly dim. But what of the gap between now and then? I will shed floods of tears when we part for good. Your face will be etched on my heart as I silently relive every moment we’ve shared. My whole being will ache like it aches now As the reality of losing you chills my being. It is like awakening from a beautiful dream. At first, every detail is vivid in your heart and mind And you can’t help but ponder upon its wonder. Then it slowly fades as your thoughts are called elsewhere. You cannot completely forget it, however, It remains within you forever. Just as you will be in my heart for as long as I live. I can’t imagine life without you. It’s like a midnight sky with no stars.... An ocean drained of its water. My heart and soul are in denial, I cannot believe this dream is coming to an end. One day soon, I will wake up and you won’t be there. The sun’s dazzling rays will become dull. The sweet smell of fresh air will become bitter and choke me. The birds’ song will sound like clanging bells. For it is you who brightens the world for me, Your voice is the only music for my ears. You multiply the joy in my life and divide the sorrow. How will I endure living without you by my side? A future without you is intimidating... I’m afraid of climbing the mountain of life alone. Who will give me reason to smile again? Whose wise words will elucidate the mysteries of existence? No one to comfort me when I am sorrowful. No one to reassure me as I face my fears. No one to believe in me when I falter on the way. On the way to where? What good is to be found unless you are there, My bright, shining star...my heaven on earth... My reason for living. Something inside me will die when you leave. I will cling to the memories of time spent with you, Yet even they will fade as time goes by. I will dream of the past less and less, Untill one day it will cease to torment my heart. But even then I will look back and remember the happy days When all that mattered was You and Me. You and me...... Maybe the bliss I found in being with you Is meant only for heaven. If that be so, I pray that in death we are reunited, For then, an eternity of love and happiness will be ours. With that prayer in my heart, I will live in hope. In hope of finding my way without you, Untill the day comes when we are together forever, In a place with no anger or tears. I have to let you go, cease being dependent upon you. You have your dreams and I have mine. Sadly, these dreams do not entwine. I must not visualise the past when you leave; It is essential I realise that some things do not last. You have blessed me abundantly, Every smile, every word is a miracle to me. I am lucky to have known you for the short time we’ve had. I love everything about you.... The way your embraces made me feel so safe. The way your smile made my life beautiful. The way you understood me. The way you cared. Soon I will be alone and unhappy, For you won’t be there to give me life. The world will be so cold and so cruel without you. There is nothing I can do. You have to go, I must set you free. I finally realise that never can there be An earth spinning round in space With a place for You and Me. Yet as I consider even for a moment A life in which you take no part, I see a vacuum. Nothing. Things will happen outside me But there will be no life within. My emotions will withdraw in order to cope with such a loss. My mind knows I must let go but my heart won’t listen. If I could bring time to a halt I’d do it now, For it is passing too quickly for me. I fight it, but being such that it is I lose; Every second...minute...hour...day, Brings me closer to the day when I must rip in two The bond or connection I have with you. Your farewell will extinguish the spark of life within me. I will be as a rainbow with no colour, For you are the only colour in my life. Or as a unicorn with no magic For your touch is the only magic to me. I have loved you since the day we met And I’ll never be able to stop. You gave me life, hope and love... Your beauty makes me feel beautiful. I wish I could turn off my feelings, Thus preventing the pain I will feel so soon. However, I find that impossible... It’s like asking the sun to stop shining Or a river to stop flowing. Yet, it is this love that will get me through the agony ahead. For I now know: “ Tis better to have loved and lost then never love at all “ You have shed light on that for me. So now I will let you go, Fully aware of the love and happiness I am losing. You have taught me how to live And now tis time for me to live without you by my side. Goodbye. |

if only you knew how much that poem applies to me!! can i just say i was nearly sobbing through the entire thing! wonderful job! <<clap, clap, applause, clap, clap>> get the picture? anyway, you truley did do a marvelous job with this one!! excellent usage of language and imagery! i could go on but i won't -- good job  |

This is really well-written and expressive, but you sometimes repeat yourself, and make the same point several times. I can sense your loss, your passion throughout, and the fervent way in which you love this person. That was amazing. It showed so much emotion and feeling. You have such talent and such ability to write. I could relate to your situation and emotions. i recently broke up with my boyfriend of 14 months. Love is such a hard thing to lose.
