All are pawns in games of kings, erasing expendible expinditures. All hail the king.
Amen say the soothsaying seers to comfort anger and cushion their necks. Secret
daggers plot evil plots hatched from secret minds. Through the eyes of dragons see
the murky pitch of wretched hearts. Mangled children scream in pain as the king

gives them pennies. Yet far away the young boys learn their games of war, thinking
it but a game. A few years more and they will learn of blood and pain, to give and

with bloodied hooves as gallant men wipe gore encrusted swords. The battle is over,
the victory won. But where is the pony, with child afoot, singing innocent songs
of youth? Look yonder in pasture, scorched grass abounds through hollow and fen,
through marsh and wood deep and thick. But search for youth in tulgy forest and
you may find it, if you dare. They run in field and plain, in wheat browned by sunlit
sky. Through them on mountains, they scream their threats and promises. Hills and
vales offer their voices to create panic stricken cities and towns of bourgeois comfort,
docily living in mayo houses and huts below a lonely castle. Thus sayeth the Lord.
Amen, Amen.

Ali, sug...this is amazing. You've combined a most spectacular artistic approach with very good poetry. More often than not, I see one or the other..but not both, as you have skillfully displayed here.

What can I say Mr.Adamson? You truely have outdone yourself this time. This is the first time that I get to post a reply and look what I get to see. Drug Trip? How did you manage to get a name like that for this piece though? This is more than poetry, this is a work of art. I have seen some created pieces, but I think that this one takes the cake..
Darquewing and I are awestuck!!! I have to save this piece for later..
I am in love with this piece.. What gave you such a brilliant idea? I have to know..

Guys, all of you are too wonderful for the mere words which come to mind.

Ok, time for background and inspiration. This all happened after trying unsuccessfully for a year to create original type-art. I was sitting on the roof of a hostel in Budapest, Hungary, looking over the skyline as the sun was setting back in July of 1990. I was there as part of a missionary team teaching English as a second language using the New Testament as a textbook while I was still in college. The scenes played out in my head, the castle took shape, and in one sitting, this one was born. Sad to say, but the title came from reading it anew after 9 years of being buried in a notebook...it was untitled, and that was the first thing to come to mind.

Alicat....That was amazing...I mean lets forget about the picture for a moment and focus on the words....they were elegant yet cruel, beautiful and truthful...quite a hard combination to come by...and then to put it in the form you did....I would need to be slightly medicated to get rid of the pounding headache if I ever attempted that! Great work!

Sorry...I was bored...

*Deep burgundy blushes*

Thank you. Everyone, thank you. Last night when I put this one up, I was pretty darn apprehensive about its reception. Since then, I've been grinning ear-to-ear.

Wow...

For one who claims to no poetic prowess, Ali, you sure do rock when you come on the scene! Agreed that it is a work of art, visually, written and aurally!
Awesome doesn't even scratch the surface!
