In the space between moments

0 posted 1999-10-06 10:50 PM

I wrote this as a challenge from a friend of mine (Cassie) who wanted me to write about a soul becoming part of the stars. This is my gift to her, for I know that she is destined for the stars.

Eyes dance through midnight heavens,
Twinkling within the shadow of dawn.
Life's essence is those who have been,
Spirits from the past are never gone.

Tendrils of life reach out to eternity,
Breathing wishes into glistening light.
Only a precious few will ever really see,
Even less will ever experience the flight.

The lure of greatness pulls upon a soul,
A single heart racing to meet the stars.
Yearning to soar from the world below,
Wanting to float into mysteries afar.

Drawn to the brilliance of the universe,
Her soul drifts upon discovering breezes.
With a shimmer she escapes her curses,
Granted the gift to reside in fiery seas.

Now another soul will live on within the sky,
Entangled within threads of pale moonbeams.
She now whispers upon a single star's sigh,
And forever watches over me within my dreams.

Another beautiful piece, Alwye! You have certainly met the challenge, and I know your friend will love it.

Thank you all. Yes, My friend did indeed enjoy it. I got a hug and a big smile and brightened her day, which made it all worth it.

Beautiful! I'm sure your friend was well pleased. You have such talent (I think I've said this before)! I hope you continue to write, even if your profession is not in this field. You should send your work to magazine to be published!
