NEXT TO NO ONE

With no one here to wipe the tears,
Can I really be crying?
With all I've tried to give, I'm not sure I've lived,
But, God, I know I'm dying.

A chilled bottle burns and soothes the yearn
To be something to someone.
That passive thought so soon forgot,
When you wake up next to no one.

As Destiny's call rings through the hall,
Demanding some sort of retribution.
A legacy of stone I face alone,
Against this world of institution.

Generating the hate, sealing the fate
Of a man marred by emotion.
It's the need of need which lays the seed,
But love, alone, sets it in motion.

An angelic cry from a darkened sky
Lightning rides forth the knell.
As thunder peals and the soul reveals
The blackness of my own personal hell.

For in all I've shared, I have never fared
A night with soft arms to embrace me.
Waking to the bliss of dawn's first kiss
To find her still there to face me.

Oh, but is that, indeed, the penance I bleed,
Fading in the folded arms of emptiness?
To never for real know how Love feels,
While ravished by her capriciousness.

The aftermath, envy and wrath,
The unfulfilled quest of a "true" wife.
While saltless tears reflecting wasted years
Pilfer the remnants of voided life.

I know a few divorce lawyers that would see this as a prelude to a feeding frenzy.

Sorry, humor eludes me at times. I've been feeling similar things and thoughts though I have no ex that is mine to disown. Excellent work, Dark Lord.

Great poem....I especially liked the first line..."With no one here to wipe the tears,
Can I really be crying?" Its a thought provoker, like what came first, the chicken or the egg......

Michael - this is deeply moving. Once again, you have molded words to create a work of art.

Michael, Michael, Michael....damn man, I empathize with you.... You do nothing but feed my demons, day in and day out. And they always come back, hungry for more!
Magnificent portrayal of loss and despair!

Oh Micheal, I know these feelings and you have protrayed them well. (But you must get out more, your dispair is too much) Smile

Michael...great work..been there...but maybe ya should do as suggested above..get out more? But then again....I hate to offer suggestions to anyone, even close friends I've known for years, because nobody knows the exact thing you're going through..

True love's not always found
In single bars for sure,
But you can always go to the pound,
Cuz a dog's love is one that endures!

Beautiful poem, Michael... the first couple of verses could easily be mine... only I would have never written them so eloquently. *S*

Michael, again the loss and sadness in your words moves me. Your talents are amazing, I only wish that you had happier things to write of now. This poem was an excellent piece of art, you have created life from loss.

Michael,
It seems that your ex-wife really did a number on you.... I can only hope that she hasn't soured you on women.... For there are alot of us out here how aren't "bitches"
Keep looking and your one true soulmate will be found..

This is enough to discourage just about ANYONE from marriage ...

I am one of the strange folks who believes that there is only ONE soul out there that is the other half of our own ... and unfortunately, I can tell you from experience that you often have to sift through many of the others before you find the one that fits ...

I wish you luck in your search ... (or in recapturing the one who fits the bill, as the case may be)

pFF, where are you..?
