Hallowing

Carving up more than pumpkins
A killer does duty for the devil
Dogging for scents of innocence
Nothing stops this virulent evil

Hunting for a virtuous victim
Young man so willing, come along
Temptations arise in the setting sun
Moon and tide forces pulling strong

He walks unwittingly into the snare
A game of fate, zero chances to win
No bridge to safety, only a chasm
Reeking of the stench of human sin

Crescent moon cloaks covert conduct
Cutting deep, sliding spiral never ends
Tumbling him in terror, torture
Tormenting the tender mind it bends

Raining now, it sounds like thunder
Or is that the sluggish beat of his heart?
Warmth is leaking out, it feels arctic
The senseless waste the saddest part

Prayers at this late hour, young friend?
Quilting you now, blanket of death
What is left hallowed here on earth?
Sweet peace comes, last exhaled breath
