Where did my life go If only I could know It feels like it flapped its wings And flew away like a crow Into the depressing gray sky of a late autumn day How I always hate these days That move slowand full of sorrow Just wishing for the sunrise of a new tomorow My heart filled with the emptiness of nothing As I travel the once worn path of the backdays of my life I realize its true you can never go back For the weeds are too overgrown to clear a new track How quickly and strangely things changed over this short measure of time Friends once wealthy with love Now can't spare happiness a dime Family distant and worn out All they do is scream and shout Joy once filled to the top with love He promised everything love could give He promised a new life He wanted me to marry him young, be his wife To ride off into the sunset Just like a fairytale ending But no more his love will he be sending The bird of my life must find a new nest Somewhere for my weary heart to heal and and my mind to lay at rest As I drop this match onto the life I must forget I watch the flames rise Then the bird inside me flies |
