a touch and a whisper set my mind at ease
for a moment in time i had something to believe
now the touch has gone away
keep holding on to yesterday
everything's fading, except the pain
i've lost it all, now nothing to gain
passing each minute not thinking of the next
all that's done, is only reflex

my heart, my life, my all have gone
deceiving others saying,"nothing's wrong"
but the emptiness is growing so fast
done all i can and won't let go of the past

now death would mean nothing, i'm already dead
but leaving this place would leave the darkness unfed
waiting impatiently for days to end
night time has become my closest friend
alone in the blackness i search for the soul
that captured my dreams and won't let go

voices i've created, deceiving myself
can't get close to anyone else
i've traveled so far into this hell
creating my world in this place i fell
a world of hatred, how can it be
the one i despise has always been me
filling myself with nothing but lies
how could she leave without saying good-bye
where has she gone, why did she leave
will she ever come back and return my dream

Very nicely done, Chris. I enjoy all of your work, this one especially touched me because I can relate to it. Beautiful work.

Pretty tough, huh Chris, when your so wrapped up in someone that when all at once they're gone, your world feels so empty. You did a very nice job relaying those feelings here. You have a definitive talent with meter within the lines. Keep up the good work.

I can really relate to this one. I feel very much the same way at times. And I do have to say that I'm quite jealous. You posted your message and three people responded immediately! You must have a following.

I really like the feeling that is portrayed in this poem. Sometimes this subject can come across empty because it is something we all feel at one time or another, but you bring real depth and emotion to it. Great job.
