You won’t be able to explain my absence,
Though you might notice I am gone.
You will not understand or even make sense
Of what you think just might be wrong.
You’ll only stop for one brief moment, maybe,
And realize that I’m not there.
And who’s to say you’ll even notice, baby?
I wonder if you’d even care.
Love has left me like the light, upon a breeze,
Floating away before my eyes.
Nothing puts my soul in to it’s greatest ease.
It’s easy to believe the lies.
So inward to myself, I turn, quietly.
And not a soul can find me here.
You still speak to me disrespectfully.
But you can’t hurt me when I’m here.
I’m on the very inside looking outside,
Watching things go on around me.
I see what you’re doing and I can’t abide.
And yet, you still can lie to me.
Do you think that I’m completely ignorant?
Am I a pawn that you can play?
No, I am but a Lady of Intelligence.
And you will not have things your way.
Say ‘good-bye’ to what you could have had, but lost.
You won’t forget all that I am.
You will be tortured by the memory’s ghost.
And love, for you, forever will be damned.

Heartbreaking, my dear. You are a Lady of intelligence and should be respected as such.Though, myself, I know when you've been gone.

Sock it to 'em sister! Those last two lines rock. I agree with DE, this is heartbreaking...but you've displayed a great deal of kiss my a** strength. Well done!!

Excellent poem. I always enjoy your work. You always seem to write straight from the heart not mechanical or spiritless.

You are a Lady of Intelligence, and don't let anyone treat you like you are anything else. The poem is so powerful and heartbreaking...good luck.

Love,
