in a rough straw hut she lives
a creature of spun silk
and velvet eye
though a heart of stone
humming an ancient chant
'neath her breath
she prepares her spells
(hair of bat, eye of newt)
for traveller unaware

feet silent upon hard packed floor
busy on her task
she stops but a moment
to stroke her dark companion "Simon"
he stretches and purrs
green eyes opening wide
intelligence there in feline gaze
he oozes an eon of antiquity

soon a knock echoes through
a time worn hut
and with a careless wave
it becomes a cozy room
the mistress, a beautiful ornament
the cat a sweet gentle kitten

as she bid "enter"
he approaches slowly wary like a lion
seeing no harm there-in, he asks
for sustenance and rest
she asks but a small sum
his name upon a faded wrinkled parchment
to be written there in deep red ink
eagerly he signs, for
something in her smile draws him in
something in her gaze captures his heart

eyes never wavering from hers
as she gives him food and drink
and soon with her timeless smile
and fathomless eyes
he is lost to her spell
lost to her enchantments

he's sold his soul to her
for a cup of grog
and a bowl of soup

while he sleeps
the sleep of the damned
she counts up another day's coup
and smiles a knowing smile
Master will be happy for certain
for on this day's hunt
she caught a handsome Knight
to be bound for all eternity
as a slave to him who rules the darkness
to do his bid, and satisfy her thirst
for revenge and death
upon this paltry soil

Definitely done very well.  I love the storyline and it reads very easily Isabelle.

Nice work here!
