The Queen of Nothing

Take me back from whence I came
Here there's nought for me to gain
But nothing left to lose remains
'Twas all lost in your final reign
As ruler of my heart

Your beguiling decree indicated
Past hells be vindicated
'Til your throne you abdicated
My thirst for you unsated
You are a cruel king

Master of all I dreamt
Hour upon hour spent
Inhaling the heady scent
Deceit, 'tis fragrance-drenched
You were my breath

A peasant at your feet 'twas I
Not esteemed enough in your noble eye
To warrant honesty…you fed me lies
Their poison led to my demise
My heart is dead

As you cast your eye on this plebian form
You may envision a face forlorn
Yet inside the peasant is transformed
The former ice queen now reborn
Long Live The Queen

Very wonderfully written Caroline...I loved the aaaab format to this one, it worked wonders to bring out the meaning. Great job!!!

Excellent! I second the motion on the signature. Maybe it is a possibility for your next work?

Thank you so much...this poem was written with great anger (I guess that is obvious though!) and I was afraid the antiquated-type wording and style might put some people off.

I am not sure where the signature quote originates. I wish I knew who said it first..I'd give 'em a medal for truth!
