Speed

You can’t save yourself
You can’t have your life any other way
You’re trapped in your own mind
Its so much more than insanity at this point
Uncleanness is your thoughts
An earth burnt by your actions of carelessness
No turning back
Cities crumble under your pressure
Your destruction lives while we all die
A dark cloud, you hide in the sky
Fangs of laser precision sharpness
A scale covered body
A lonely girl playing
A sun too tired to rise
A shadow cast upon innocence
Her look of pain
Her life spilled onto the sand
Sunken cheeks and cold skin
Pale complexion
Tattered clothes
Scarred bones
Cracked, burnt, disfigured
Her face silently screams
Nobody hears the cries
Nobody feels the loss
Radiation fallout
Condescending freaks
A shadowless planet
A windless tomb
Deserts turned to glass
Skies turned to red clouds
Humans turned to smeared, blackened images
Seas turned to boiling pits
Dirt turned to a hot powder
Rocks turned to liquid
Life turned to a shadow of its former self
The heavens turned uncaring
The stars turned away
By a destiny we cant avoid
We crucify ourselves
We shun ourselves
Existence
Clean slate
Press the button
Reset the planet
Reset all spirits
Prick your finger
Shed your skin
Play your god-role
Stop time by pulling that trigger
Life has stopped
Earth has died

Wow... intense. Something we all fear... it touches the fear in all of us. Really made me think.

the images in the poem.. that of despair and emptiness are very well executed- the word selection coupled with the momenteum of the piece really brought the message of the poem home- excellent choice of title. I've read it three times now..each time quicker than the last..each time picking up on another image of hopelessness... very powerful.
bravo
