Back in the days of playing with dolls
When your mom was your best friend
That was the Age of Innocence
But all good things come to an end

Things are so confusing now
You know, growing up and all
You spread your wings to fly
With nothing to cushion your fall

You've got so many choices now
You don't know which path to take
You try to follow your heart
Hoping not to make a mistake

I miss the days of playing outside
Until the sun went down
And sleeping with your parents
Wearing your mom's nightgown

I miss the days of no worries
All problems Mom could mend
That was the Age of Innocence
But all good things come to an end

I think we all wish we could go back to the simple childhood years! Great poem! But only God can get us through the difficult years to come.

Nice poem, Thing. It had good flow, and brought back memories (YES! even us old sailors and scalawags had a childhood, yanno!) The poem seems to say that you've had a recent 'fall'. Are things working out for you now? I hope so.

Recently I've been writing on a similar bent. If you are a fellow parent, my only advice is to play with your children. It's the only way I've found to relive those memories.
I enjoyed your offering and welcome to the club.
