The Image

An image set into your mind,
then words were not hard to find

Sweetness filled the air on high
in hopes this image would come alive

You placed this image upon your desk, upon your wall's, within your chest
Yes, this image you truly loved,
you knew she came from up above

Laughter did the image share,
every time she found you there
Waiting, holding, trying to breathe,
never did you want to leave

You watched the sun crest in the sky
with this image that you placed so high,
Right by your side the image stayed,
as she loved you in every way

Her pedestal you built so high
that only to reach, she could touch the sky
With clouds of blue and billowing white she dreamed of you through the night,
as your dreams entwined of holding tight

So many times the image proved,
that you could look and see right through
But looking through was not your quest
You took, You sought, You found the best

Yet out of balance it began to spin,
when the image forced the mirror in
To show that all is not as it seems,
in the making of such wonderful dreams

When one lets go of his weighted world, forgets the pressures of the day
relaxes in that certain way
With one to hold by his side,
to comfort in the day's gone by

She held on to your every word
and thought that inside of you she heard, a heart beat of true release
An ever sought, new found peace

But it was a frightful day
that all the dreams faded to gray
But she knew she had to show the way
The truth it hurts and never fades,
it is with us, every passing day
Somehow we go on with time,
yet, hold to hope deep in our minds

And so the stories of the shining knights with mighty swords who come to fight
For one true love they seek to find,
in a once upon a time
Become the fairy tails they are,
that we wish for, upon a star

Yet, the image still believes
that all good things wont come to grief
If we love, we must seek
And as we pass through that door
of looking back to what was before
We take more time then we gave
to look at what was yesterday
And it is with a tear, we smile,
to have only held it for awhile.

"Men often applaud an imitation,
and hiss the real thing"
