Old Toe called up our Balladeer And said, "I need advice. My little house, (you know, the 'sty') Is overrun by mice!" "I know I've been unkind to you Because I'm such a lout, But, buddy, could you take the time To help a poor soul out?" "Well, Toe", I said, "why you've got mice Is quite a mystery. There's nothing there that's got good taste Including poetry." "But, since I've always been a chump To help pathetic souls, Just take a clump of steel wool And shove it down their holes." About a week went by. I called Toe up and said, "Well, friend, Did your small problem with the mice Come to a happy end?" "Hell, no.", he said, and I could tell From his voice he was mopin'. "I really found it too damned hard To keep those small legs open!" [This message has been edited by Balladeer (edited 09-21-1999).] |

Thankee all for the chuckles. Lucie, he's only getting the upper hand 'cause I'm getting ready for a trip I've got planned this week. Sometimes Life interferes. When I get back, though, it's Toe amputation time! |
