The Color of Emotion
By Paul Wilson

If I had to paint emotion
I might paint it red for rage
To match the fire in my eyes
From being trapped in a cage

If I had to paint emotion
I might paint it green for grass
To match the coming of spring
‘As I fish for a big fat bass

If I had to paint emotion
I might paint it gray
To match the clouds
On a cold winters day

If I had to paint emotion
I might paint it yellow
For the color of a rose
Or a fair haired fellow

If I had to paint emotion
I might paint it blue
For the way you make me feel
When my memory drifts back to you

If I had to paint emotion
I might paint it black
For the emptiness in my heart
For not taking you back

If purple were emotion
It would fit me fine
It was your favorite color
And is also mine

You did very well this Paul.  I thought it the tougher of those given you.  Purple has always been a very pleasing color to me, but not one I really linked to emotion.  Maybe I just didn't recognize peace and well being.

Michael...Thank you for your reply. This was really hard to put into words for me, I did the best i could. I almost pulled it off of here because I wasn't happy with the way it came out. I guess emotion can be any color you want it to be based on the mood you are in...Paul

I think the mid is a very fascinating thing.  Some colors bring certain emotions to the masses... say yellow, believed to have a calming effect.  Works for most but what of the child who liver and was beaten in a yellow room all his childhood?  I daresay his response might not equal the norm on this one.  I believe life's presentation of color shapes us individually, and as such, can leave us all with a very different perspective of the very same shade of purple.  As was the case with me, felling nothing stirring in me at all when focused on that color, I wondered if I might be missing out on something that the masses felt, or even if you had a personal tie to that shade for some reason.

Again, this was the tougher of the challenges.  Where you say we can make color any emotion we want, I think on a subconscious level that choice is made for us at a very tender age when we don't even realize it's happening.

And I'm glad you left this up.
