Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Impending ice!
The storm is on its way
and it won’t be nice
they all say.
I must agree
I hate it
to the inth degree.
Not hard to state it
when my experience
has been so far:
A series of dents
that totaled my car.
Days without power
from downed lines of all types.
Milk that went sour
and frozen pipes.
Wrapped in blankets I’ve snored
by soft candle light.
Stuck in the house I’ve gotten bored
and picked a fight.
I’ve slipped on steps and sidewalk
on my way from here to there.
Such a sight that it makes people gawk
then point, laugh and stare.
Hate it with a passion its true
but I must admit the silver lining
is the spectacular view
when the sun is shining.
The world turned to glass,
brilliant and blinding.
Sparkling shimmers en masse
it is a view worth finding.
Over by the window I go
with my mug of hot coffee
to enjoy the show
and see what I can see.
So come on Mr. Slick
if you must.
Then do your little trick.
You’ll excuse me I trust
for not coming out
and trying to play.
I’m too old to enjoy slipping about.
Ice is best left to others when you’re old and gray.

Warmest winter I can remember. January and we continue in the mid-to-upper-seventies for highs daily. I'm loving it. I hate cold weather!

So far all this ice they have predicted has missed us. But the day is still young...~L

Nope! just went out to stoke the stove in the garage and the back steps were like glass. I sprinkled some pet friendly ice melt. ~L

I recall many Winters when everything was gray...even the television tube. If you wanted color in your life, you wore plaid shirts. If you wanted traction, your tires wore chains. If you wanted to have fun, you had a snowball fight. If you wanted it to hurt some, you tucked a rock inside of it.

Got the blues? Go out and throw some snowballs at cars.

Yann and Bluesy,
I'm not blue at all, maybe a tich bored around the edges. Sitting at home under a blanket is my idea of a good time, especially on a rainy Monday (the ice is all melted) when I don't have to go to work. My biggest concern today is muddy dog paws. ~L

Dear Lori, I love your perseverance.  I recently went out of town and had to deal with the icey conditions.  It's enough to give me a heart attack..maybe I need to get a dog.  😉

Nice write, Lori.  They say “A picture is worth a thousand words”.  Well your words conjured up many vivid mental pictures.
Really enjoyed the read.
Reminded me of an incident earlier this winter.
Icy ice and icy snow.  I was out to get groceries, and as I was walking across the parking lot I stepped on a patch of icy snow and began doing the “Matrix”, arms swinging, legs flaying every which way, then boom, I was sitting in some very wet snow.  A young girl was close by, her hand over her mouth trying desperately not to laugh, she said: “I’ve never seen anyone move so fast and not get anywhere.”  I smiled and chuckled, got up and dusted off the icy snow and move on.  None the less, I do love the snow and wintry weather.
