A Hard Rain Falls on New York Town

A hard rain falls on New York Town
and everybody on Broadway scatter in fear
I taste the salt as it comes pouring down
walking down Tenth with Laura Nyro in my ears
and my heart feels like it's wrapped in cotton candy
'cause I just met a woman that's right for me
with just a look I was surprised I was still standing
'cause I just met a woman that's right for me
yeah I just met the woman that's right for me
a hard rain falls on New York Town
and everybody on Broadway scatter like birds
I taste the love as it comes pouring down
on Tenth singing the sweetest song I've ever heard

A hard rain falls on New York Town
businessmen hold newspapers over their heads
the fragrance of April soaks into the ground
I seem to have lost the scent to follow back to bed
and my heart fell like a six ton feather when she came
'cause I just met the woman that can save me
with just a smile I felt my knees go down in flames
'cause I just met the woman that can save me
yeah I just met the woman that can save me
a hard rain falls on New York Town
businessmen hold newspapers, soaking every word
the fragrance of love I follow around
her scent sings like the sweetest song I've ever heard

Manhattan shaped like a crooked drop of rain
a man like me seemed destined to wax and wane
in love's bright blue sky seemingly forever
what a thing to see that I'm wrong
she sings to me the sweetest song
I've ever heard

A soft rain falls on New York Town
I feel the weight on my shoulders disappear
cozy in the arms of the love I just found
floating down Tenth with her song in my ears
and my heart feels like a child on the Fourth of July
'cause I just met the woman that's right for me
now the rain mingles with these tears as they die
'cause I just met the woman that's right for me
yeah I just met the woman that saved me
a soft rain falls on New York Town
I feel the world on my shoulders disappear
lost in the arms of the love I just found
floating down Tenth singing the sweetest song I've ever heard

Your poem sings as if it dreams to be a song (which I think it just might be). It resonates the "hurry up and go faster" of NYC. And in that rush of raindrops love is found.

Love this.
