Keeping Silent

A world gone crazy as hate reigns
fear to speak out holds me in check
I feel my tongue is wrapped in chains
while nothing said seems to be right

Inner thoughts are not in turmoil
I know what is right for my soul
Yet somehow my words would embroil
bringing confusion deep within

Is it worth the pain it could bring
to someone who can’t clearly see
The words spoken aren’t meant to sting
hearts who see things differently

My words would have meaning for me
and not for those whose lives differ
Can I speak and not offend thee
my heart is unsure what to do

I do not like the world I see
where violence and pain rules the day
No one is able to agree
all humans deserve to be free

Anarchy is not the answer
it only gives fuel to the fire
It leads to another cancer
with treatment that cannot be found

Love one another, have respect
help wherever your heart leads you
Please, showing all the same respect
for humankind needs honest love

Karen McNeil

"while nothing said seems to be right"

There is nor right answer here, for most of us are trying to appease factions who refuses to be appeased.  there is no way not to offend, short of ceasing to exist...which is what many of them wish us to do by the way.

Please forgive my bluntness here.  I  just feel the pain and helplessness you express here...as well as the confusion as to why, and It irks me that we, in a country that is supposed to be free, and has a freedom of speech as one of its founding principles, have had that right taken from us.

Moving piece, Karen.  Felt it as much as read it.

Michael...thank you...I completely agree...in a world gone crazy I feel my thoughts are being controlled by others and it makes me feel caged as much as the shutdowns do...where will the world go...part of me is interested to see the outcome but part of me is fearful to see how much worse it can get...thanks for your thoughts..they are always appreciated
