Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Rona,
black mistress of death,
suffocating the life
out of her helpless victims.
She is a fickle one.
She passes some by
with barely a fever
or cough to notice.
Others, she attacks
with a vengeance.
They struggle to breathe
on machines,
for days or weeks,
until their hearts give out.
Rona gets around.
She fills hospitals
and morgues
to overflowing.
Mass graves become
her legacy
as she leisurely tours the world.
