Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2019-03-03 05:47 AM

My yellow cat,
the one with the
gold green eyes,
comes  kneading attention
along about 2am.
Tail in my face,
her back paws prancing,
her back claws snagging
on my satin pillowcase.
She is relentless,
my shoving she ignores.
I roll over to escape,
only to have my husband
complain about my snores.
I’m up,
now nature’s calling…
The  coffee pot too…
I’m up, I’m up…
The dog wants out.
Poor thing.
His homemade haircut
has him half naked.
I fashioned him a T-shirt,
Johnny Depp as Jack,
upon his back,
just to keep him warm
inside the house
during this artic blast.
Time to pull out his parka,
the one
with a hood.
tufted in maroon
that  fits him like a cocoon.
Off he goes into the blowing snow
to mind his business.
Off I go into the kitchen
to mind a cup of joe.
The timing is perfection,
we have a mental connection
as soon as I sit down.
There is a scratch and a bark
at the door,
he’s eager to get in.
He has snow in the seams
of his parka tufts.
He looks like a caterpillar.
He comes inside with frosty paws,
but none the worse for wear.
Soon he is back in bed asleep.
Mom covers him with a blanket
to help warm his li’l butt
and to help hide that awful haircut.
I’m up, I’m up,
what to do, what to do…
I feel like baking.
I check to cupboard to see
if I have a box of brownies.
I do!
But it calls for oil-I’m out.
But I’ve got butter!
In less than fifteen minutes,
I’m licking batter bits from the bowl.
Soon the living room
can feel the oven heat
as the storm continues to howl.
The aroma fills the air
as I play solitaire.
Good thing I‘ve got the timer set,
my eyes are beginning to droop a bit.
I look at the clock
and just as I suspected
it’d be time to get ready for work
if it wasn’t on a Sunday.
I thank God for that
as I stick a toothpick in the middle.
It comes out clean.
Mission accomplished
like a well oiled machine.
So as the brownies cool,
I can chill
in my favorite chair
with my favorite blanket on.
I can’t remember the rest…
I stretched out
and I was gone.

The best brownie recipe I have uses instant coffee. Your dog gets dressed up to go outside and pee? My cat is tougher than that.

bbynams,
My cat is too! LOL!  But I shaved 75% of my dog almost to the skin and it was 7 degrees without the wind chill and he is old, so you do what you got to do. ~L

Oh I know, he looks just like me.

To do:

1) Become poet
2) Make big batch of brownies
3) Shave the dog

Am I missing anything?

bbynams,
Did you miss anything? Well, being half crazy helps a lot...but that's just me. you have to embrace your own awesomeness. ~L
