Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2018-11-30 02:08 PM

I wrote this poem for a student I work with that recently lost her Father whom she lived with. She was very embarrassed to share with a teacher that she was in need of some clothes.  There was no need for her to be as we were all happy to help her out.
Blessings

Blessings,
are all around us
though sometimes
it seems we don’t know where.
But when the Sun goes down,
we have the Moon
to reflect its light
to remind us that it’s there.
In the night
it is always hard to see.
It is easy to forget
that you
can be a blessing rare
to me,
as well as to others
you have met.
For there is more joy
in giving,
than there is to get.
You give us the Grace
to be our better selves.
It is a precious gift
that one cannot replace.
You honor us
with opportunity
to have a loving response
to a humble request.
It warms our hearts
to try our best
and do what we can do
to always be there for you.
Bless your heart
and thank you
for letting us help you through.

What a beautiful thing you and the others did for that young, probably frightened girl.

I know your heart has withstood much Miss Lori, but through your own times, you've always been giving of yourself, not just with this humble student who lost her supportive father, but all those who you have reached out to so unselfishly...including myself and my Linny.

So for me in having known you as I do, this is "par for the course", even a few strokes under.

Many bright blessings to you and the "Sheriff".

I'll keep in touch...

...just bein' Bluesy

Bluesy,
You always say the nicest things, so nice in fact, it is hard to keep in mind you are talking about me. Thank you for reminding me to remember my awesome. It is the perfect gift, it goes with everything, and it's just in time for my birthday tomorrow. ~L

Thanks to every one for commenting on this special piece. This poem seemed to write itself. I think the good Lord had a hand in writing this one. ~L

Beautiful poem... but more importantly, beautiful actions directed by beautiful hearts. Well done, m'lady... both in deed and in word.
