Pink Motel

Pink motel, pink bridal suite
a cactus set against a toothpaste sky
newlywed awkwardness in the August heat
touchless and speachless together they lie
on a bed they made together
they polish their armor smiles
for any kind of weather
the sound of shoes shuffling on sunset tiles
stepping on toes
they silently dance in each other's embrace
to 'God Only Knows'
nervous laughter while their heartbeats race
and oh how they blush, the carnation and rose
painted on crooked grins, face to face
two silhouettes set against the moonlight pale
two become one in a pink motel

Pink motel, pink Cadillac
champagne stars streaking across the sky
newlywed wanderlust never looking back
the blushing flame of romance cannot die
long as their hearts burn free
hold fast to the rock of their love
storms of marriage blow wildly
the smell of a cement rain sunrise from above
silence is found
they softly cuddle in each other's embrace
to 'Don't Let Me Down'
eyes reflect back and forth in space
and oh how they stare, baby blue and earthy brown
painted on blissful smiles, face to face
two silhouettes set against the sunlight pale
two create one in a pink motel

Pink motel, pink sunrise light up their door
children looking for seashells along the shore
she wonders if she's ready
he tries to keep his hand steady
the future is a blinding April sky
she straightens his tie
his arms around his one true salvation
the distant roar of an oldies station
pink Cadillac up for sale
two making plans in a pink motel

Check out time
two silhouettes set against the sunrise pale
two hearts one destination in mind
as they look back for an instant at the pink motel
two hearts with a long road to unwind
but they'll be fine
they'll be just fine

Pink motel, pink bridal suite
a cactus set against the toothpaste sky...

Makes me think of days gone by when life was less complex in say the 50's. But the basic concepts are timeless. I like the way you used  color to accent your poem. ~L

'a cactus set against a toothpaste sky'..great line!  This write lingers..
leaving me to wonder if they truly made it through after all.

Nicely done Poet..
