Fair to middlin' of nowhere

I lurk in the shadows
in broad daylight
like a criminal on the run.
I seek asylum in the shade,
escaping from the sun.
I hide inside where the air is cool.
Darkness is my benefactor
I use like a tool.
Heat is my nemesis and doom.
I only feel safe in the gray gloom
of overcast skies filled with rain.
The direct sun on my head
tries to cook my brain.
So I take to my porch at odd hours,
the wee of the morning
to water my flowers.
Then late in the evening at nightfall,
I sit and listen to the animals call.
I survive summer like a fugitive,
that is just the way it is
until fall.

Yep, basically there with you my friend . . .
only my "plants" such almost more water than I can provide (at least that's what the water bill says).

Ah, well, just a couple more months until the chill begins to make itself known. But, darn, then I have to stop worrying about not enough water and what's going to make it through the winter!!

Never ending!!

Hot! Hot! Hot! Summer has barely begun and I'm not liking it one bit.

Thanks my friends!
Gosh, you'd think I was made of butter the way I have to avoid the heat and direct sunlight. It is a good thing I like to siesta in the afternoons. ~L
