When I was young,
I turned around in the street,
I read the newspaper every day,

I wrote poems,
I slept in girls librairies

I ate French fries to Mac Donald,
I went to the school with a school bag,

I collected foreign stamps,
But I lived without knowing you,

I gave importance to things which have not.

this is so true pIP, we can't erase youth as simply, it is a step of the stair case

Islander2 - Miss a step on that staircase and you may stumble for the rest of your life. Each one counts. Most enjoyed your work. Namyh

Last line just about covers it all, but your indepth thoughts and words gave this poem a richness profound, Yann.

Young lives run on instinct, do they not, dear yann? As instincts evolve into experience, then we begin to live.

I always have time for you...

Yann,
I think this is one of my favorites. I'm with Jerry about your last line. This poem prompted some great comments. ~L

Funny how things change for us as we grow older. Like that last line.
