Looking Ahead
By Larry Chadwick

Eternity is coming.
I know it can't be here yet,
because we still count the years.

There's only one way of counting,
that matters.
Not the years since you died;
but the years to eternity.

I'm not sure
which is the bigger tragedy:
how long it's been since you died?
Or not knowing how long until eternity?

When we no longer count;
I'll be searching for you.
Until then;
I've grown less fond of numbers.©

2-19-17

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Aww Larry I just love this.  I do not count the years, the memories remain near and dear and they mean everything to me, they are priceless treasures.

  As always you write from the heart, and your poetry is very special.

Warm hugs Larry.

Ah..eternity...seems a long time, but mostly it will come to us like a thief in the night, when we least expect. Meantime, life has to be lived in, good times or no
