In front of her bedroom mirror, the fan sucked back its wind in its own reflection
as her corset-camisole locked in to form a feminine 'V'... accenting her own sense of womanliness

She coyly inventories her face… lipstick, earrings, eyeliner...etcetera
Oh, and that anemic hair...her list could go on, but she’d rather postpone it

She spends a few moments more...quite still, just staring in front of herself
Then she dusts away a spillage of poppy red and goes to her waiting boudoir-in-a-booth

“Hmm”, she thinks to herself, “I look passably good for the evening,
surely someone will seek my attentions and be generous in their tithe”...

More likely someone who has their own list that could go on and on…
Their own anemic ‘this or that’, someone following their own mirror and fan

Her blusher preserved cheekbones flare at the thought of spending the night in pieces...
with someone who just wants to name a few of her pickled bits

...for a lousy six-bit toll

Bluesy,
you made a real person out of what we we would just blow off as a stereo type. You have a knack for that. Good job! ~L

Thanks for participating in 'be kind to toll-booth girls' week!

You're up late..er...a..early? I really like Blues' writing I don't know why I wouldn't have commented on it. Stuff happens, I guess.
Someone upset because they didn't hear from me, imagine that. Like my opinion is important. Who knew.? `L

Yes, but more times than not, poetry boards run on preconceived ideas, then judgements based on those ideas.
Reacting strongly based on nothing but those ideas usually ends up poorly.

Intolerant people are not happy people.

I like how you tolerate me, Lori Rhoden.
