Untied Laces

Across the lost on acres most of some less barren dreams
I do recall the lot of life, then larger than it seems
Across the lot, to pitch and catch, those moments sieve the sands
Much younger ran the bases all, let fly balls through his hands

So much alike, in then and now, once past of whiffle teams
And then as now, ‘neath maple arms, to pitch the catcher’s dreams
His taunting grin would tease with glee the depths of time disturbed
And then as now, might I recall, the smudge and shoe prints curbed

In youth beguiles with youngest smiles, my heart to hold the beams
And echo still the always will in all my best kept schemes
Without escape the years to drape as waves upon the sands
For you to know in lines that flow the peaceful place love lands

For My Brother

Ahhh . . . You sent me back to the baseball of my child. Playing in an open field in the summer. I'm sure your brother appreciated the throwback poem.
