turn toward the smell of roses
where thorns
stand ready to stab and bring blood
the secret rumble
of leaves giving notice to beware
those who understand
a storm brewing
give the rose
the symbol of love
a wide measure of respect

Didn't know about the thornless rose. Thanks.

gee, this is some picture, so painful for the reader to get past, laces in deep, and your poem is picture perfect in sync with the photo, disturbing as it is to view

Yeah, you're right, Emma. This is one of those poems that wrote itself in my mind before I tried to do it for real. The photo? Saw it and knew it was perfect for the poem even though it is sorta hard to deal with I guess.

Enjoyed the presentation
only thing I might like to change,
Have shears snipping off the flower.

Thanks Gloom. After thinking about it a bit, the shears cutting the flower would have been good.

Absolutely and quite literally stunning! I've never seen two works of art so well paired. You have really outdone yourself this time my friend. Excellent!

Thank you so much, Lori. Yep, I thought they went together, the rose and poem.
