you and I
sat on the sand
of Galveston beach
observing seagulls diving for food
after a while
we walked along the beach
each of us holding our shoes
me with my pants rolled up
ancient waves surfed the shoreline
we talked of pirates
with black eye patches and huge knifes in their teeth
sailing these shores
looking for booty on the wind
we held hands
stopped for a kiss
you smelled so gentle
as we stood there
making memories I now relive
being washed in a kaleidoscope sunset

To "smell gentle" is to know a soul well.

Made me ache and smile, Jerry.

You rendered the atmosphere most beautifully, dear Jerry. It is delicately poignant and really tugs at the heartstrings.
