SEVENTY TIMES SEVEN
8 January 2014

http://soundcloud.com/diana-van-den-berg-2/seventy-times-seven

Let it go,
your anger,
let it flow
back into the sea,
seven times cleaned,
softened,
diluted
and mellowed;

and then,
when the seahorses flip it
to you in frolic,
catch it
and laugh
and cosset it in both hands
held high
as an offering
to the sun
to roast and devour
its sting;

then place its remains
on the grass,
gently;

walk around it
and view,
from all sides,
what is left of it;

reshape it
here and there,
and now and then,
standing back each time
to evaluate your handiwork;

then,
when it is liberated
from the last vestiges of malice,
and as innocent as birdsong
on a hot summer day,
use
its fragility
to brighten and blend
the colours that smudged
and translate them
into a rainbow kaleidoscope
of
change.
