night sky sparkles
clean and cloud-free
sliver of a moon
blends into the splendor
of flashing stars
wished upon
throughout the eons
what is it about
Heaven . . .
Space . . .
the great expanse . . .
that calls us
to lift up our voices
on its behalf
is Heaven up there
or is it just . . . there
believers
and non-believers
look to the sky
for inspiration
a rumble of dry thunder
or maybe a heavenly voice

nights like this
one could lose themselves
and become
as one with . . .

everything they are

One could, one really could. Just a letting go, a resistless falling, and we are there.

Yeah, you're right, Redstart, and wouldn't that be a magnificent feeling. Thank you.

It simply humbles me JerryPat...what you write of and how you write of it. Men need to humbled. When they run out of pegs on their 'one-size-fits-all' caps, it's time to look up.

Hey there Southern Lou! You're writing 'em better than ever! Sounds like all is well with you and that's good news. I know, as everyone does, of the tragic loss of life and property. Many firefighters and others from up here are already there and more aid is on the way. I wondered about you and didn't want go about things without giving you a shout. Stay well my friend.

Take a bundle of 88's with ya!

Thank you so much, Tickle, for stopping by and giving my poem a read. Yes, things got bad here in Louisiana, and it is still isn't over. It will take a long time to survive and conquer what has happened. I am good. I live on high ground where it never floods. Thanks for the "bundle of 88's,"

This is really beautiful JP.  You should lose yourself more often, makes for great poetry.

Loved the read!!

On another note, I am glad to know you are safe on higher ground. Enough rain already.  We are fighting fires in California.  Mother nature is letting us know who is boss.

Thank you Blues, appreciate your comments very much.

Yes, I am still high and dry, although it is raining right now. I'm beginning to think that maybe all the confused weather is Chem Trails originated.

Thank you so much. Lori.

Finished your book, loved every poem in it. I'll go back in a couple of months and read it again.
