In the absence of women
We two are able
They've been long forgotten
With their bustles and curls
Steep the Tea Watson and I'll set the table

Steep the Tea Watson and I'll get the ringer
The house-mums without
And she's got our dinner
Stop playing your tuba
Fold up Betty Grable
Steep the Tea Watson and I'll set the table

The dinner was chipper
Now the teapot has cooled
The Inspector has house-mum
We cannot be fooled !
