Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Nothing like a good Winston
with his mustache all askew
and bright black eyes
looking back at you.
Can’t help but chuckle and smile,
I have to reach out and touch
that silky ash gray dog awhile.
Then when my petting is done
and I’m feeling fine,
he puts his paw
on the outstretched hand of mine.
“Oh, don’t stop now please”,
he seems to insist.
Of course these pleas
I can’t resist.
Apparently we’re not all done
until he’s been hugged and kissed.

But of course, Lori! There is nothing quite like a loving dog. I know that's a natural fact, I have had many of them. The one who owns me now, Zoe, gives me reasons to continue treading down life's unpredictable road.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH!  Woof woof-woof-woof.  Woof woof-woof woof woof woof-woof woof-woof woof (I hope I got the grammar and spelling right. but if I haven't, Winston will know exactly what I mean - his intelligence - all wrapped up in his love - glows in his beeeyoootiful eyes)! Please pass the message on to Winston.  It's a secret message to him, but tell him that if you would like to hear it, I am perfectly happy for him to translate it for you.  (You will love that I think that of him, but I'll leave more than that up to the cuddly bundle himself to tell you!)

Your poem is GORRRRRRRRRRRRRRGEOUS, Lori, but please forgive me, but Winston is MUCH MORE GORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGEOUS and PRECIOUS and CUTE and ADORABLE and CUDDLY and obviously LOVING and an ABSOLUTE SWEETHEART!  He has a BEEEEEEEEG fan in South Africa.  I bet you can't guess who she is!

Thanks everybody-Especially Aunti Di,
Winston has really helped to fill my empty nest. Best dog I've ever had. I actually googled that picture because it looks more like him than the ones we were trying to take of him. He is 11 and I rescued him about a year ago.
We took him on spring break to go visit friends in Texas and they loved him so much they want to get a Winston of their own. ~L
