Sometimes I sit and wonder why
I can't sprout wings and start to fly
Above the clouds so very high
And then I'd be willing to die

There are times when I cast my lot
Against the things I have been taught
And tie myself into a knot
Looking from within what I've wrought

I've lived, I've loved, I've had the best
In many ways I have been blessed
Still I must get things off my chest
About my life, my zeal and zest

No matter how hard I did seek
The world always looked dark and bleak
And though I tried to look so chic
I felt I was a circus freak

And now you see my cover's blown
These days I live alone
I suppose I'm in my own zone
Had I but known, had I but known.

Great reflection Jerry.
Many don`t get the smoothest road to travel and because of circumstances the consequences are complicated.
However, being able to level with yourself as you`ve done over the past while is a great accomplishment, one that many never achieve.

I remember a British group I used to listen to called Savoy Brown and one of the lines in one of their songs was -
you can`t get a sneak preview
over what you`re gonna go through
so you you have to rely on your body mind
to see the light from shade.....

Doesn`t always work out but it surely can if we try hard enough.

true love never looks after it's own interests

North Louisiana is pretty much redneck country, south Louisiana has a heavy influence of Cajun French with the attitude of "Laissez les bons temps rouler." . . . Meaning, Let the good times roll.

Thank you Eric for your interest and also for reading and commenting on my poem.

"I suppose I'm in my own zone
Had I but known, had I but known."

Spoken in true humility, for us all, for centuries; to me it seems to be the phrase: such is life. But your title to this write is perfect, my friend.

Enjoyed the reflection.

Wow, sounds great in rhyme! You sum it up efficiently, this life and I am happy that you acknowledged your blessings.

I really loved this much:

quote:
Sometimes I sit and wonder why
I can't sprout wings and start to fly
Above the clouds so very high
And then I'd be willing to die

It's a peaceful imagination ... gliding softly into the next dimension.

What has been has been ... Light and Shadows walk hand in hand in everybody's life. We are students here ... students of life, which will allow us to evolve into a higher level of consciousness.

Let us face the Now with courage and trust that we are never really alone.

Love and peace,
Margherita

I am mastered totally by Love."

I appreciate your great comments, Margherita. I am not sure we are not alone, but we are given intelligence to think for ourselves, and that is my comfort in the midnight hours. Thank you, my friend.

Well, I'm much wiser. Just don't know what the hell to do with all this wisdom. I can relate.
