turn your eyes into the upheaval
the foundation of the world
is hanging by a thread
look. . .
everyone is losing freedom’s light
one by one
country by country
what is taking the lights’ place
are the suffocating
governmental interference
in your life
even here
never thought it could happen here
but the proof is before us
and our vocal
protests fall on uncaring ears
of the government and the sheeple

Not looking forward to 2014 eh? My friend I hope all your worst concerns are for naught this year. I hope the Comedy of Errors we call Congress has a more productive and positive year. Warm wishes to you for the New Year!

I hope congress gets its act together too, and I would like to include the POTUS in that also. I'm not nearly as pessimistic as it sounds. Actually I am very happy in The Hovel with Zoe.

I'm also pretty happy, Jerry but I do worry about our country and our complete lack of leadership. Can't be a good thing.

Oh, no it sure isn't a good thing, Ida, but since there isn't anything I can do about it, I just write poetry about it every so often. Thank you for being here.

"Sheeple" indeed ... great word!

I do believe, however, that the greatest 'evil' is actually the 'corporatization' of everything! Megalithic national and international corporate octopi with their 'special interest' lobbying clout, and virtually infinite supply of money, are the real 'big brother' antagonists. Governments are just their puppet-instruments for the on-going shackling the spirit of the 'every-man' ...

Oh I agree with you on that, Bruce, it just took me some time to actually come around to that way of thinking. As you quite correctly spelled out even our most revered corporations in American are not truly American companies. The bottom line is the new God. Thank you for taking the time to visit me here today.

What to do, Jerry?
The Corporation is in control.
I think you have bought into their plan - blame the government - a nearly defenseless scapegoat.  That's what serves them best - bad government.
And on the other side of the coin are the religious fanatics who will do anything in the name of their beliefs, including destroying the government.
If the government is rendered powerless, no matter by whom, who then is in charge of those things government does best?  The unelected, unrepresentative, money-is-no-object corporation(s).
We seem to be caught in the middle.
What can you do?

No, Krawdad, I understand that the corporation lies behind the scene and is directing operations in their behalf. I will admit I have been lax in understanding this but i have most definitely come around. When I say government is to blame that is only because it is the Masters (corporations) right hand and does what it does because they are told to do it.
