long drives are good for the soul
time to think
time to think some more

I've thought alot
usually (but not always) I think of regrets
...and her

in spite of unsolicited advice not to
...I do

I'm not Tony Robbins
negatives exist in my life
I deal with them by ignoring them

but they never go away
like her
so I drive

...hoping to find a friendly thumb to talk to

She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast".

Thanks JerryPat for being discreet enough to display the 'appropriate' digit.

you do like to live on the edge don't you?
Picking up strangers these days is risky business.
So is "she", if she is the one that got away.
If she still occupies your mind, she still has a piece of your heart. It keeps you from loving wholeheartedly now. You short change yourself.
Easier said than done letting go of the past, especially when we don't dwell on it but it seems to dwell in us. ~L

For me, there are never 'one size fits all' philosophies to define love or its nuances.

Re:

I totally disagree with this idea. Poetry and lyrics may expound this concept, but I never found a spark of reality in it myself.

If I ever as you say, "short-changed" myself, I simply over-charged the next one to keep my books balanced.

Thanks for the hit Miss Lori (or was it a 'slap'?).

I like this a lot. It's very true that some thoughts will come to us even if we're told we shouldn't have them. it makes me think of a sign in a bakery window that reads- Welcome please don't smell the bread.

smiles,

Tf, Yes, Understand this, for me..it's walking,
feeling the wind in my face, & sometimes
my sunglasses hide the teary eyes those deep thoughts can bring.

A Good write..many can relate to.
