To Nanette . . . I recall how our nights' passion unfurled, Words were not needed our love said it all. As I looked down at you I saw a pearl, You used to kid about my southern drawl. You were a prize, but thought you were bland. An Italian Jewess, mystery to me. I recall our walks, you made me feel grand, I think we both felt passionately free. But she had no idea that I was bad, A man who fought life with all of its fears. Oh, I loved Nanette, I knew what I had, Think of her daily, we had some good years.
