May Stepping

strolling
the morning sounds
on a late-in-spring day

whoo-hooting
whoosh
tch-tch-tch-tch-tch

whoosh
tch-tch-tch-tch=tch
whoo-hooting, whoo-hooting

it’s the
quietness
that reveals bird calls

sprinkler
beats as the spray
rotates its half-circle trail

Saturday
most everyone
still within, may perhaps abed

yet, I
find the cool
and the early morning silence

that has no silence at all
if one knows how
to listen

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Oh my goodness yes within silence there are things to be heard. Really enjoyed this early morning nature walk, Virginia.

And would you believe it was down my sidewalk here in town. However, there is a seldom used park right across the street, so it stay pretty beautiful. Those were the sprinklers that were going  and I barely heard them. The tch-tch-tch-tch was to catch the image of the water as hit hit the trees during its cycle.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

A beautiful reflection, Virginia.  Early may mornings are always special here.  Cool, and usually clear, and everything in nature coming alive.

Thanks, Michael and Devina. And now, we have 90º outside, the mornings are to savor.

Devina, the highlighting you did, not only did you bless me with your kind words, but you helped me spot a typo. I left  the "s" off of "knows;" now I've fixed it.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

May in spring - my favorite season, a walk in the woods so invigorating. But it's almost June, and why was May so hot this week.

Thanks for posting this piece - such a breath of cool fresh air.
