Brand New Day

I wake unto a brand new day,
Though ‘nearly slept it all away.
I pour myself some fresh coffee,
My one true friend won’t deny me.

With its aroma, warm and sweet,
I somehow feel less incomplete;
Looking to the porch, and the swing
Never sat in to welcome Spring.

Eyes roam from there, out to the lawn,
(Counting yesterdays come and gone);
In its sad state of disrepair,
Realizing I’m almost there.

The brand new car I only drive
For work or food, scarcely alive…
The lonely street, all but forsaken,
My tribute to the road less taken.

I close the window, and the shade—
Let shadow and silence pervade
The very essence of a room
More comforting when pent with gloom.

Still, in a dark, forgotten nook
Pouring myself through some eBook;
I know this day was meant for more,
But just can’t open up that door.

Seems to me you have at least cracked that door with your somewhat lively poem this beautiful spring day . . . Here it is a beautiful day at least.

First stanza, last line need looking at.

Fifth stanza, last line the same.

Yeah, it's a beautiful day here too, Jer.  Just trying to talk myself into going out and enjoying it... a lot easier said than done for someone like me.

I know. I'm an indoor huddler myself.
