What Else Truly Matters?

On these bleak days of
streaming clouds,
glowering skies, and
cascading sorrows
in the deepest grip of
Winter’s viscous siege,
when our traceless lives
seem most forlorn,
wandering all our
lonely, trodden ways
through life’s dark-
uncertain labyrinth
of broken dreams and
forsaken promises,
step into the sunrise
in those vast-resplendent
moments of the
imperishable dawn
and always … always
seize even the
smallest of chances
that love may grow
  fine wings
to soar above
this ever-darkling
plain of  human folly,
greed, and discontent
for what else truly matters?

When it all seems hopeless, just the slightest light out there, is something to cling to in the world of human suffering

"What else truly matters" is your poem in a nutshell, and within most you your poetry that statement is found with some deviation everywhere. And, when you get right down to it, nothing else matters.

Thanks to each of you for your comment/reply posting on this 'write!' ...

As previously mentioned, my (many) 'critics' accuse me (among other things) of
'penning' "pseudo-sentimental, syrup-dipped tripe" ... if so, so be it!  I believe the
double-post-modern world (particularly the 'Runaway American Dream') could use
a tonic-dose of unabashed 'Romanticism' now and again?!

"Unabashed romanticism" well done, Bruce.
