MUSIC BOX

A pale pink tongue licks the horizon
As frosted fields await the dawn
Lone swan upon a frozen lake
Like a mirrored ballerina
Dancing in her music box
And then the lid is closed
Bringing silence to the tune
Until the key is turned once more

Hidden secrets within the box
Love tokens safely stored
A private place for one so young
On velvet lining her fingers play
To the rhythm of the tune
And still the ballerina turns
Reflecting things that never are
Until the key is turned again

Her music box now lies in dust
Velvet faded with the time
The key once precious golden charm
Fallen lost so long ago
Younger fingers lift unlocked lid
The ballerina she tries to dance
In the silence no tune is heard
And will the key be turned again

. . . and such is life . . . the secret to happiness largely depends upon who will be the key of our love life, for without that special key we wander aimlessly and dance no more.

wow! this is very touching and I enjoyed the imagery produced.

It is the harmony of the universe

Michael, this is heart-stabbingly sad, but equally as beautiful.  Sometimes sorrow etches beauty with its chisel, because it needs to remember.
