Beneath mask's silken soft camaraderie
of holiday and revelry,
words fail,
though at times
when soul chooses free,
still can I sculpt and spin
and weave a tale or two...or three,
when in moments brief
and shed of wheeze and creak of age,
aloud to part the threads of grief,
when soul chooses free
thought can breathe and speak,
of days and dreams
and treasures younger men must seek,
in lines of cutting trail and stalking on the hunt,
heart free and running under sail
taut before the sea,
the sea that follows me,
when soul chooses free.

Your poetry is deep and full of all aspects of the human spirit...as we age I think we drift upon and past, only to circle back to our youth when the magic of love and what the future held was alive and well and held so much promise...and then the future is here and now.  I don't know...i guess i never really thought of how quickly time marches on.

Many blessings to you my poet friend.

quote:
and shed of wheeze and creak of age,

Yes indeed, this tells the tale does it not? Old age. Never thought I would live to see it, much less be it.

I love the way you weave your thoughts into words. But you are not "Old" yet son. Many out there frisky enough and willing to be flattered. You just need to over come that Age thing. Best to you Charly. jo

when soul chooses free ....

Indeed the soul is ageless and inspires you whenever you are willing to listen.

This is wonderfully expressed, dear Charly, it speaks a beautiful truth.

Love and peace.

Memories never age, they are reborn with every stilled moment.. A wordsmith at work, and, may I say, memories of the sea become clearer than most.

I admire your work so much. I echo the sentiments the above comments. I would say of Jo's comments on aging that one is as old/young as one feels. As for myself, I feel quite "mature" for my age and Jerry and I connected on the same quote though we be decades apart. Same with Margherita's favorite line...And if anyone knows anything about souls, it is our dear Marherita, whom I believe to be a very old soul

So much beauty to be felt if not seen when the "soul chooses free".  Always enjoy your words and wisdom.

Charly, when one has poetry in one's soul, as you indeed do, one can, as you do, milk the agony and ecstasy of every moment and make it vibrate with life and colour and wonder, and then paint it into a poem for all eternity.
