.

This time
You hate me
I call you a fool
We both know it’s silly
Impossible
False
Every cell strains at speaking more
Silence poised in the air

Words can’t be found
To say and agree
No one of us
Understands the truth
Attempts only set our minds against
Each other
Breaking the link

Heaven is gloomy day after day
Our countries are ready to fight
You lift your arm
I don’t turn away
Time slow and viscid
Your palm on my cheek
A fond easy touch
Love in war

Ah, I like this Gale. Even during the terrible times of conflict we find ourselves turning the cheek toward what is supposed to be our enemy. We do this many times to keep the almost forgotten thought of humanity alive. This was very well written.

I hope you find someone that you can love without the destructiveness that war brings.

The pain in this, Gale, makes my heart ache.

Love hurts sometimes...you captured the push and pull and the ache in between.

Thank you for reading and commenting, BluesSerenade!
Much appreciated!
I see what you mean. But I think it's not love. Love never hurts, love could protect, if people didn't reject it for the sake of selfishness and pride.

A very compelling write, dear Galina! I perceive the double meaning of "love in war" and I am amazed of how intensely you rendered this aspect.

Love,
Margherita

Thank you, Jerry! Glad that you like it!
I'm not sure if "turning towards" and "not turning away" are equivalent though.

Thank you, Margherita!
I didn't think of double meaning while writing this, but maybe you're right.
