Fair to middlin' of nowhere

The rain came like a sigh of relief
in the dark before dawn
Precious drops disappearing
in the dry cracked earth
It was all over
in the catch of a breath
Leaving only the sound
of crickets

Ah, rain's been a rarity out here.  Another dry winter and we're all bound to wither up and blow away with the dust.
