The world is eaten up with schemes,
But hey! Come to me in my dreams.
I’ll hold the door open, we’ll share.
And we can love each other there.

You won’t find a jealous bone here,
Just love and passion to endear.
We speak truth, no lies to be heard,
Loves’ sweetest songs sung with our words.

We trust each other, passion rings,
We’re together doing our thing.
A future we can have; we can build,
Oh, it can be ours, what a thrill.

Visit me tonight in my sleep,
We can love wondrously deep.

Did your new novel inspire this? If so, I think it will be a great read as well. Like your new pic Jerry!

wow ... nice "dreamy" Romanticism ...

(I'm not typically brave enough to 'do' Rhyme)

... guess I have a "verse libre" addiction?!

Ah, you did very well with the rhyme here, Jerry.  A lovely little song... I called it that because it literally sings.  Much enjoyed.

Many thanks, Michael, when I first started trying to write poems (that no one ever saw because poetry was sissified I thought), I rhymed all of my work. Over the years I gravitated to free verse either because I was lazy or I thought I could express myself better that way. Thank you for your kind words.
