.

My mother
Couldn’t boil water
To save her life

It was a burden
Her children
Lived with
Because there was
Nothing else

My mother
Was a marvel
Who reveled
In incompetence

And you wonder
As you ponder
With such inexperience

How I surrender
Forever to whatever
You want

Over salad

To understand the poet...read the poem.
